Dan
Dan says it the way it is...
Yes, unfortunately I'm back for more, and it's all thanks to everybody's friend 'Hashiiiiiiiiiiim Piperddddddddddy!'.
Just seen a programme on TV about the institution that is 'Match Of The Day'. It really is part of the English culture, and despite a valiant attempt from ITV with 'The Premiership' for the past few seasons it's going to be good to have the grand old lady back (and no more bloody adverts!). Along with Only Fools and Horses, MOTD is what The BBC is all about.
Had a couple of holidays in July. Firstly I jetted of with the boyz (AKA DS, Bean, Smit, Lake, Stu, Jimmy and Wilma) to the sun lashed, beer fuelled, 24hr hour partay that is Magaluf! Had a superb week, it was emotional and I'd love to tell you all about it. Unfortunately, we all signed contracts prior to the trip stating we would not disclose events to the general public and what happens in Magaluf, stays in Magaluf....quite literally!
After that, had a couple of quiet weeks away with the family in....Ibiza! Yes, as in the party island Ibiza. And I did say quiet! Returned to a beautiful little resort on the North of the Island where we stayed last year and did pretty much sweet FA for a fortnight, apart from reading Iwan's book and finding out what Sven had been upto. The Sun is a quality paper.
Since I've been back I've continued to climb the ladder @ Ster, so it's all cool on that front you'll be pleased to know.
We also had a Magaluf reunion, in the continental setting of The Bell...classy!
Highlight of that night had to be a brief cameo performance from that man Hash!
Talking of Hash, this entry is dedicated to him. He has been a huge support to me and it is solely down to him that I have dusted off my keyboard to bring you this update. So blame him, not me!
Until next time, take care and enjoy watching the mighty Canaries take the Premiership by storm!!!

Bonjour. Just read through the Kett Diarys and was shocked on a couple of counts. 1) Stu has updated his diary, yes son I still check! And 2) Hash has retired from his Web Diary antics.
He made the point that 6th Form life has gone, I have now accepted that and moved on. They were good times but now in the past. Caught up with a few of the boyz during Easter which was good, as Magaluf will be! Oh that reminds me; I need to send off the cheque for that!
Anyway, it has(n't) been a pleasure writing for all (two?) of you.
Farewell my friends.
WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE
- Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 18:43:23 (EDT)
Well what have I been upto since I wrote last? Well firstly, we went TOP OF THE LEAGUE AT PORTMAN ROAD, where we have stayed til this very day, the day we did the double over our friends from Ipswich...Bend it like Malky!!! That's all I'm gonna say, dont wanna get young Hash ruffled now!
Talking of Hashim, he is the man you are needing to blame if you are being subjected to this quite uninspiring diary entry about my currently uninspiring life (cue violins).
Oh well it could be worse. Work is good(ish), progressing with my management training and hope to be getting a decent payrise soon so that's all good. I've also been thinking what I want to do over the next few years and I have come to the conclusion that I really do wanna sample the whole 'Uni experience'. This is kinda strange as at the end of 6th Form I really felt I would never enter the world of education again. Perhaps the enthuisism of everyone who's doing so at the minute has rubbed off on me? Well I wont be going this year anyway, I'll be heading off (wherever that might be), in September 2005. Got a few things I need to to before then; save money, pass my damn driving test, get some good work experience and, fingers crossed, do Camp America.
Well that's the plan, guess I'll just have to see how it goes.
I'm back on msn now, so if you fancy catching up sometime my email addy is norwich_dan@hotmail.com
Hope to see some of you people very soon!
Until next time.

Hey there...I'm back! Hope all is well on the K6 front and that everyone is having a great time. I've said before how much I loved my time in the Kett and how much of a wrench it was to leave...but you have to move on and I feel as though I have done so. Saying that it's gonna be good (if kinda strange) to see everybody again at the award evening on monday. I really hope that there is going to be a good turn out from the founder students of the Kett and in an attempt to boost attendance figures I'll let you into a little secret...!! I have been notified by the legendary Mrs Drury that I am an 'award winner' for 'achievement in Leisure and Recreation' (whatever that may be!?). Oh well suppose desperate times call for desperate measures. Fisher luck has it that my works crimbo meal falls on the same night so I feel it may have to be a a bit of a flying visit but it will be good to see everyone never the less!
Talking of seeing people, I'm really looking forward to meeting up with some of the boyz (a la Beany, Stu, Wilma...etc...maybe even DS, Lake and Smit if back from Uni) on saturday as I hear we're hitting Riverside on Saturday night? If so I fear I could be a little messy @ work 9am Sunday morning. Never mind, they're used to it now.
Been to see Love actually tonight and from it I have drawn 3 conclusions;
1. Hugh Grant is a funny man
2. Kiera Knightly is mighty fine
3. The importance of telling that special person how much they mean to you.
Sorry, I'm not going to tell you on here who that 'very' special person is but if they dont already know who they are, they will do soon. It could be you?
Right that's enough for one night...(or month even?)...but just want to echo the message from Hash to my fellow ex-yr13's....UPDATE YOUR DAMN DIARYS!
See you all very soon.

Hey Everyone! Hope everybody’s lives are happy and you are all heading in the direction that you want to be. Well what has happened in my life since I last updated my diary? Well firstly I am still working at Ster but I have been promoted to Box Office and Floor Supervisor which I’m pretty chuffed with because a) I’m now on more money which enables me to actually save some cash on this gap year of mine, and b) it will look good on my CV having supervisory experience aged just 18.
Secondly, Norwich are just one win away from flying to the top of the league which as you are all no doubt aware will put a big, if slightly smug smile on this beautiful face of mine.
The above happenings, along with the regular big work nights out, ensures that I’m a pretty happy chappy at the right now. The absence of a long term relationship with a gorgeous, funny and caring girl would widen that smile but I just I gotta be patient on that one!
Glad to hear that everybody is having a good time at Uni, I’ve got all the fun and games that entails next year!
Would be good to hear from you all and we must sort out a night on the tiles as soon as everybody is back form wherever you all are right now!

Right firstly I'd like to apologise to Dr E and my many millions (!!??) of readers that I have not written anything for a while now! Just looked at my last entry which was written at the start of July more than 3 months ago which is poor on my part. Wilma, Stu, Smit and even Fordy have posted something since then so I decided it was time I wrote a few words.
As you may or may not know, I am currently taking a gap year in order to take a break from education. I'm also looking to gain so good experience and save money to help me when I start Uni (ARGGGH UCAS) next year. Sadly good experiences and £4 something an hour wages @ Ster Century Cinemas are not very helpful in achieveing these goals. Never fear I do have 'better' jobs in the pipeline and hope to have something consructive to report about my 'Gap Year Adventure' next time I right. One word of advice however, if you are intending to take a year out then listen to Mrs M and plan it...she is a wise lady!
I'm jetting off into the sun (again) but will update you on post Kett life in the near(er) future!
Be good.
My 'Gap Year Adventure'

This really has got to be my hardest entry yet. To try and sum up how I now feel to be a Sprowston High School 'oldboy' is impossible. The last 6 years, and in particular the last 2, have been a pleasure and to be in the words of the great Mrs Drury a 'pionnering cohort' for the Kett has been a honour. To say I was more than a bit sceptial about joining the 6th form, and particularly linking up with Blyth Jex and Heartsease, is an understatement. And although I can't offer an opinion on BJ as I didn't have a great deal of contact with them, I would just like to thank the students and teachers, (particularly Mrs Remer who has been amazing) of the Heartsease site. The biggest compliment I can give them all is that I wouldn't have changed meeting them for the world.
Also, thank you to all my other teachers based @ SHS; take a bow Mrs Mahood, Mrs Edmondson, Mr and Mrs Taylor, the extremely underated but legendary Mrs Nicklin and the man everybody loves to hate...come in Mr Cyril Nicklin! It has been an intresting ride to say the least but I owe these guys a lot and would just like to say thank you to each and every one of them.
Finally, you guys...my friends and colleagues. As Wilma has said, every one of you that I have come into contact with has helped me make the person I am today and for that I will be forever grateful. You are all amazing people and I wish happiness on you all.
Although this is a good time to look back and reflect on life, it is also a chance to focus ahead and plan our future's. This experience will have only been worthwhile if we use it to enhance our future's and make a success of our lives. We only get one chance and it is up to us to make it happen.
This will be my last entry for a while as I'm jetting off on a well deserved holiday in the sun, but on my return I will be starting a new chapter in my life. However this new chapter includes you....I will not forget you guys.
Stay in touch; norwich_dan@hotmail.com/ 07833584131
It has been a pleasure. Keep Smiling :)

I'd like to start this entry by paying my respects to Cameroon International footballer, Marc Vivien Foe, who tragically died while playing for his country on Thursday. To understand how a fit and healthly 28 year old footballer can just collapse and die in an instant is just impossible. What is also hard to figure is why the nations most popular newspaper, The Sun, feels the need to print such vulgar and morbid pictures of this tradgedy on the front page for all to see. Disgraceful.
Well, the news of Foe's death slightly overshadowed what was an otherwise good night. Was good to catch up with everyone and have a relaxing drink or two with my buds. One of the highlights of the night has got to be the appearance of Zema Abbey in Lloyds and Time...Just ask DS!!!
Hope Bear had a good time, as he was celebrating his 18th birthday....if he actually remembers anything of it that is!
Oh well, I've had enough typing for now, it's a bit too much like hard work!
See you all on Wednesday for tea and biscuits then the leavers assembly.
RIP Marc Vivien Foe

HEY HEY HEY! Wow...we're finished!! Well almost, just got the celebrations and the formal goodbyes to go, then after 6 years of residence I'll be part of Sprowston High School no more. How do I feel? Well, after dreaming of this momment on more than one occassion, now it is here there aint a great deal I wouldn't do to go back 2 years in my life and do it all again. I really do envy the new 'crop' of talent coming into the Kett, and my advice is work hard, party harder and enjoy the whole damn experience!
Spent the last two days @ the Norfolk Show; working in the extremely popular and but unbearably hot and stuffy NCFC marquee yesterday, and up there as a typical tourist today with my Leisure and Rec/ Travel and Tourism buds, collecting as many freebies as I could! Well, why not?
Got home and watched Tim Henman boldy go where no Henman has gone before by winning a match in straight sets and now chilling before the big night on the town tonight! It's gonna be good and I want to see a loud and proud Sprowston crew out ok!?
One other thing, it's really strange not having that voice at the back of my head saying 'come on Dan, time to revise/do coursework'. As I said to Mrs Mahood when returned my locker key (yes, it can be done), it's the first time for a long, long while that I can relax without feeling guilty!
Anyway, off for some strawberries. See most of you tonight, and the boring one's amongst us @ the leavers assembly on Wednesday!!!

....and the fifth person to be evicted from the Big Brother house is.....(1 week pause)....JON! How guttering is that!? The Norwich born, living legend that is Jon Tickle has been evicted and the question I want answering is why?? The man is hillarious, 'controversial' and was by far the most entertaining housemate in what is becoming an increasingly boring show. Talking of boredom, you may be wondering why I am penning this highly interesting column on a Saturday night, and why I am not out partying. Well I'm being a good boy and setting a good example to all my apprentices in year 12 as my last exam, possibly ever, is on tuesday. But don't worry, celebrations are planned! Everyone who is anyone will be down Riverside on Thursday 'cutting some shapes' and chanting 'we want more beer and we want more beer!'......miss it, miss out!
Hope your all going down to the showground this week to have a look at this years Royal Norfolk Show. I'm working all day in the Norwich City FC marquee so come and say hey. I'd also just like to extend my thanks to Heartsease High School who are kindly paying for our Leisure and Rec/ Travel and Tourism group to attend on the Thursday.
Will write again soon, toodle-pip.
Lots of Love, Dan x

Well wasn't that fun!? A 2 and a half hour human resources exam is enough to send anyone mad I tell you! Oh well just one more exam and then I'll be officially 'retired' from education, well for a year at least. I go on holiday soon and it will be good to get away and chill for a while but it's gonna be damn weird not having to go back to school in September and having to get a 'proper' job in the big bad world of Norwich will be strange I'm sure.
Just a tip to any exam veterans out there....never revise with Emma Rampling. She's a great girl but you'll never get any work done as she's always messing about! Oh yeah and don't let her loose on your hair armed with a free sample of brylcreem and with her partner in crime Katie Carpenter about.....or things might get messy! Trust me!!!
Just a quick tip. If you ever feel a bit peckish b4 a big exam then pop down to the cafe at tesco's. Went down b4 my exam with young Beany and I can personally recommend the all day breakfast!
Oh well bet your're all bored out of your minds reading this entry, dont really have much else to share with you all so I'll bid you all farewell!!!
2 down 1 to go!!!!

Bonjour. Firstly I'd like to thank Wilma on his kind words regarding my exceptional performance at Dodgers on Saturday night. After standing back and giving the up and coming youngsters, a la Ben Potter, the chance to take their five minutes of 'fame', I took to the stage and rolled back the years with a number of personal favourites. I'm reluctant to subject the public to such a quality of singing on a regular basis, based on the simple fact of not wanting to cause such envy at my voice and boyband looks. Stu, for one, seemed very angry at the thought of me 'getting in the mix' for a rousing chorus of Come on Eileen, it wasn't a pretty site and one I'm keen to avoid. Despite this, I can confirm the rumours that are currently doing the rounds, yes I am in talks with the Kett Management Committee with a view to performing a 'Farewell Gig' at the leavers assembly on July 2nd. Watch this space.....
Comedy momment of the night has to go to young Adam Smith, for the timely appearance from behind 'that' fence and 'that' cheeky grin. Legendary. You just had to be there....
Ok time for some revsion one thinks.
Will write again soon, toodle-pip.

Hello there! With my PE exam now fast approaching I'm frantically revising in the hope that the last 2 years work will get me some good grades. But even if things don't go to plan when the results are revealed in August, I'll still look back on my time in the Kett with great pride. I feel that I have developed as a person and have become much more confident which will set me up for the next 'chapter' in my life. I've also made some really good friends who I'm determined to keep in touch with.
The leavers assembly on July 2nd will be an emotional experience I'm sure as we say goodbye to Sprowston High School for the final time after six years of service! Later that night, the A2 PE group are all going out, yes teachers and all, for a meal and then onto Time. Seeing Cyril Nicklin, in the words of Beany 'cutting some shapes' on the dancefloor will also be an experience, but most probably not an emotional one! Or maybe....
In response to Stu's claim of my 'lack of amusement at low standards' I have to say this claim is true. I'll look forward to our hols Stu mate, but hope the standard of lady you choose to wine and dine on the trip will be of the highest calibre!
Just wanna big it up to Hayley, for passing her theory test, and to Lakesie...happy birthday for yesterday mate and here's to a good par-tay on Saturday son!
Back to Revision!

Good evening...sorry morning my fellow students. Writing my debut column for the site at a rather unsocialable hour but you try working shifts for Ster Century Cinemas! Got home about half an hour a go and now in the process of de-popcornising (it's a common term in the popcorn industry). Been a quiet night but had the pleasure of seeing my good friend Stewart Halton's face smiling back at me as he stood expectantly demanding his light beverages beautifully accompnied by his leading lady ;) hey Stu?
Well this time next week I will have completed my first exam and will then be commencing on another week of cramming before my next one (not advised, dont try this at home kids). Oh the joys of exams....
On a lighter note, I couldn't finish this entry without a word on the ball. I think everyone has pretty much summed up what a superb night it was and great credit to everyone involved.
I could go on for hours but the de-popcornising process is now complete and my bed is calling.
Will write again soon...toodle-pip.
