The topics we study are controversial and stimulating, so with a little (skilful!) help from your teachers you will be able to engage in an argument or a debate on anything from youth culture to press freedom.

 

What does the course involve?

 

Units are based around:-

1.         Day to day matters, like food, health

            and diet.

2.         Society, which includes relationships, social issues and the media.

3.         The Working World, which covers topics like, education, business and information technology.

 

How is this course taught?

           the opportunity to have contact with native speakers

 

           varied and stimulating resources, such as CDs, videos, music, newspapers and radio

 

           support and regular feedback via two separate teachers

How is the course assessed?

 

AS:     Unit 1: Listening and writing examination

            Unit 2: Reading and writing examination

            Unit 3: Prepared oral topic

 

A2:      Unit 4: Oral discussion of issues

            Unit 5: Coursework

            Unit 6: Listening, reading and writing examinations
