Language?
The course should be of interest to
students who have a broad interest in language and enjoy reading. It involves analysing a broad range of
literary, non-literary and media texts.
Students who plan careers in law, public relations, advertising, the
media, or in a career that requires a high proficiency in communication skills,
should benefit from it.

How
is the course assessed?
Each course is modular. In Year 12 students will be assessed by
examination in modules 1 and 2. Module
3, Original Writing, will be assessed through coursework. In Year 13 modules, 5 & 6, will be examined during the final term of the
course. Module 4 will involve each
student producing an original language investigation for coursework.
To
prepare for the course
Students should read widely and be
sensitive to the varieties of English that are encountered in daily life. Students should be prepared to deal with
weighty issues concerning grammar, semantics and phonology, and look at each
individual’s lifelong language development.
Why
