To prepare for the course

Students should read widely and be sensitive to the varieties of English that are encountered in daily life.  Students should be prepared to deal with weighty issues concerning grammar, semantics and phonology, and look at each individual’s lifelong language development.

Why is it valuable?

The course is rewarding to those who are alive to the complexity of our language.  Students’ own communication skills should benefit from studying the course.
